TEACHING
My teaching is in the areas of professional ethics, case studies in technology and society, and ethical decision making. I have:

GRANTS
I obtained a Consultant Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a study of the humanities curriculum in the College of Engineering. As a result of discussions initiated by the consultancy, my proposal to develop a team-taught, interdisciplinary course in engineering and humanities was supported through grants from the Association of American Colleges and the Exxon Education Foundation.

Villanova Faculty Summer Research Grants:

  • 1991, for research on the Bjork-Shiley artificial heart valve case;
  • 1995, Ethical Issues in Medical Staff Peer Review;
  • 1999, Implanted Medial Devices.

Association for Continuing Higher Education Research Grant, with Dr. Patricia Lawler, for the study of ethical problems in continuing higher education.

AWARDS

  • Sears-Roebuck Foundation Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award, 1990. For my work in interdisciplinary teaching and course development in ethics.
  • Adjunct Senior Fellow, Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa.
